Pumpkin Week Pics!

Thank you for your donations of pumpkins for our week long learning extravaganza!
Check out the pictures!

First we completed a Scientific Investigation measuring the Mass and Circumference, then used those numbers in formulas to calculate the approximate volume and density of a pumpkin to answer:
Is the density of a pumpkin relative to its size?

After collecting our data and analyzing it we determined that the difference in density between our largest pumpkin and our smallest pumpkin was minimal so our answer is...
"NO density does not change with size"

Then we realized we had MORE questions so we completed another Scientific Investigation: Does the size of a pumpkin affect the number of seeds, thickness of shell or amount of gook inside?"
Ask you child what we discovered from our measurements and additional observations about the density of the gook and the size of the pumpkin seeds!  Our classroom is quite stinky right now!

Finally we placed our Solar System (painted pumpkins) outside of our Learning Pod N
The signs which include information about each planet are placed to scale but the pumpkins were just to big so they are spaced further apart.

Stop by Pod N next time you are on campus (don't forget to sign-in in Pod Q first) to check out our display! Or...you can post a comment here for us!

Happy Harvest Everyone!!

Techy Teacher Mom

Hello Parents!

Welcome to our new site where parents and students stay connected in a digital world! As a TechyTeacherMom I realize how hard it is to keep up with everything that is going on in life! So I'm merging my love of technology with my love of teaching with my love of being a mom!

This blog will feature important classroom dates and project information in "mom/dad friendly" language. Yes - the facts - not the teenage edition!   Additionally, Each Wednesday I will post the students' WOO HOO Wednesday celebration video.  It will no longer be mailed out so be sure subscribe to our blog so you don't miss an episode!  Our Friday Flyer Newsletter will be posted here as well,  posts on this page will elaborate on the great learning experiences and skill developments happening in our classroom.

We invite you to offer friendly feedback in a comment or just join us in a celebration.  Your students love the support!

Yours in education,

Mrs. Downey
